• Base Camp: Ziegler’s
• Climbing: Cedar Rock

Highlights:

• High ropes course id destroyed in the Fall of ’96. A low ropes course is built in January of ’97 and the high ropes course replaced by professional builders in the Summer of ’97.
• Road to Cove is repaired
• Fish Hatchery road is paved
• Tried cell phone experiment at Base Camp during August trip.

Stories

At end of staff training, PDs blindfold staff to take them to a surprise night out. Staff decides to strip to complete nudity during the van ride and arrive to find themselves naked in the Durham Bulls Parking Lot.

Base camp saved all of their ‘poo’ is bags to take to the waste center. After the first bag, the facility refuses to take anymore so the group has to drive around with the bags. Wonder what happened to them??

During the August trip a student’s terminally ill mother died. He evacuated, went to the funeral, and then asked to return to his crew, which he did.
